Based in Orkney at the heart of one of the world's most important archaeological areas, this postgraduate course in Shallow Geophysics provides you with an understanding of the scientific principles behind the techniques used in archaeological shallow geophysics.
Most archaeological geophysics companies require staff to have an MSc in Archaeological Geophysics. Our Masters course in Shallow Geophysics for Archaeologists and Environmentalists will allow you to take advantage of career opportunities around the world.
As an archaeology graduate you will be encouraged to widen your skills base into environmental site investigation and geographical information systems (GIS).
Geophysics graduates will be encouraged to gain an understanding of the formation of archaeological sites.

Year 3 - MSc To achieve the award of MSc Shallow Geophysics for Archaeologists and Environmentalists you must complete a research dissertation
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

* Undergraduate degree in archaeology or related subject, or equivalent academic or professional qualifications
* If you can demonstrate several years' professional work in the field of archaeology and especially archaeological field practice, you will also be considered
Access routes
* BSc (Hons) Archaeology and Environmental Studies (formerly BSc (Hons) Environment and Heritage)
* BA (Hons) Scottish Cultural Studies
* If you have an Honours degree in one of these courses, and you undertook the excavation module as part of that course, you will be considered for entry to the Masters course.
* If you have an Ordinary degree in these courses you will only be considered if you have taken the excavation module and have a significant amount of excavation/ heritage-related experience.
