The Master's programme builds on the Bachelor's degree that is required for admission to the programme. The programme's duration is two years, and comprises degree courses (normally 60 credits) and an independent scientific master's thesis (normally 60 credits).
The Master's thesis will normally be a supervised independent, scientific work of 60 credits; however it is also possible to write a 30 credit thesis, in which case the master's courses will be expanded to 90 credits. A list of suggested tasks for the master's theses is available on request to the Faculty. Previously completed master theses at Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture can be found on the Faculty's website.
The degree courses normally comprises 60 credits, of which 20 credits obligatory courses and 40 credits elective courses.
This is a full-time programme conducted at University of Nordland, with lectures, laboratory work and different kinds of assignments. The master's courses (300-level) are taught in 4-5 blocks per semester, i.e. seminars over two days with appr. 15 hours per block. For students working in Norway it is possible to apply for a part-time programme; please contact jhk@uin.no.

General entry requirements for higher education in Norway as specified by Nokut (The Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education).
Students who are not native speakers of English, must document knowledge of English with one of the tests indicated below.
ACADEMIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have completed a Bachelor´s degree (or equivalent) in biological sciences, and have minima of 60 ECTS credits biological courses, 5 credits mathematics, 5 credits statistics as well as 10 ECTS credits physics or chemistry. The average mark must be C or better either for the entire degree or on the core of the 60 ECTS specialisation (using the scale from A-F, with E as the lowest passing grade).
