How can an organization get the best out of its employees? The Human Resource Management specialization of Business Administration is about managing human capital and achieving business objectives.

Human Resource Management (HRM) can be defined as the management of work and people in order to achieve desired outcomes. It is a crucial part of any organization. These desired outcomes involve high performance aligned with organizational goals. For employees, they involve career and development opportunities. Human Resource Managers take on the challenge of aligning individual needs with organizational requirements using HRM tools and models. This process takes place in the context of environmental and societal trends, such as the increasing diversity of employees' backgrounds. At the Human Resource Management specialization of Business Administration, students learn to reflect critically on these and many other issues in the field of HRM. Having successfully completed the Master's specialization in Human Resource Management, you will enter the job market as a graduate in Business Administration with specialist knowledge of human resource performance and development. As such, you will be extremely well qualified to pursue a career in HRM, but many other opportunities will also be open to you, for example in general management or consultancy.

Language test: VU University Amsterdam requires all applicants to take an English test and to submit their score as a part of the application. In order for you to be admitted unconditionally you must send us a certificate from a recognised authority concerning your proficiency in English including the writing/composition test (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate Advanced English (CAE) and Cambridge Proficiency in English (CPE).

Written request: No decisions on admission can be made until the admissions office has received the complete online form, the application fee and the required documents as mentioned on the general website.
