The Master's programme in International Business Law focuses on rules and practices that are relevant for international business transactions.
The Master's programme in International Business Law is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the field of international business and trade. The programme focuses on the legal aspects of commercial transactions, such as drafting contracts, insurance, financing, bank guarantees, insolvency issues and investments. Students are taught that the practice of international business law must be set against the background of regulations created by national and international lawmakers. Regulating trade and investments is essential to help counter the potential detrimental effects of globalization. In addition, you will develop skills to anticipate, analyze and address legal problems that may arise in the practice of international business.

Register Now!Grade average: The main focus of selection will be on GPA or an overall grade average. Students should at least have a B+ or 7.8 as an overall average or a GPA of at least 3.25.
Written request: The Master's programme International Business Law is open to both Dutch and international students. This Master's programme is a selective master, meaning that all students, including VU Bachelor's students, need to apply via Studielink and send in the required additional documents. It is up to the Admissions Board to decide on the selection of students. Each year the programme is open to a limited number of students only. For more information on admission see www.law.vu.nl/ibl
Language test: VU University Amsterdam requires all applicants to take an English test and to submit their score as a part of the application. Exceptions are made for students who have completed their education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia. For Dutch students or students already residing in the Netherlands it's possible to take the institutional TOEFL test that the VU University Amsterdam offers.
Previous education: Applicants must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Law. Applicants who do not meet this requirement are also encouraged to apply, provided that they have a sound academic background and considerable experience in the field of law.
