The MBA in International Business is an intensive programme that immerses students in a world of academic thought and current business practice in an international context. Studied over 15 months, this is a taught programme delivered by our experienced internal and visiting faculty and complemented by regular guest speakers. It is ideal for those who are looking to change direction in their career, particularly on an international level, or to add significantly to their knowledge and business expertise.

Our MBA programmes are consistently ranked by The Economist and The Financial Times, and the School is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).

The programme is designed upon the two, interlinked principles of collaboration and developing the individual. It is also underpinned by the recognition that people undertake the MBA to advance their careers in a new direction. Throughout the programme students will participate in an extensive personal development programme focusing on individual and team skills, as well as key competencies such as persuasive communication and problem solving.

In the first semester, students study ten courses in major disciplines followed by an one-week integrative project; this is the foundation upon which the whole MBA is built. In Semester 2, students take courses in Strategic Management as well as specialist option courses. From April to June, students will study abroad at one of ten partner institutions worldwide, immersing students in a new culture and way of business. This is followed by an internship which provides an unrivalled opportunity to gain experience in the context of their studies and future career plans. Taking inspiration from the insights gained through the internship, the conclusion of the MBA is the MBA Capstone Project, which brings all of the year's learning together in a piece of work unique to each student.

Contents

Students will develop an integrated understanding of the essential aspects of business and leadership skills as well as the development of specialist knowledge through the choice of option courses and MBA Capstone project research. A semester 2 specialisation route is available for students looking for a more focused pathway through their programmes. Specialisations include finance, carbon management, entrepreneurship, strategy and family business. The study-abroad period and the internship outside the student's home country will add an international dimension to their studies, valuable to all who wish to work internationally. The personal development programme ensures that, alongside the in-depth business learning, students will also develop the personal skills and characteristics required by senior managers in the modern business setting.

How You Will Be Taught The programme adopts a multitude of teaching and learning approaches. Lectures and case studies are supplemented with in-class discussions, presentations and project work. In addition, students will participate in skills workshops, outdoor development activities and language classes, in preparation for the study-abroad period.

The School works with the corporate sector in many ways, including the guest speaker series which brings some of the UK's top business leaders to the School to share their insights. Students will absorb the views and working practices of senior industry leaders who are motivated by the opportunity to engage with the next generation of business leaders.
