This programme is especially designed for those holding a good economics degree who wish to expand their career options by building expertise in Finance. This MSc allows you to develop your understanding of economic theory and econometrics, including recent advances in the subject, and to acquire a solid understanding of Finance theory and its applications to financial markets and corporate Finance.
First Term
Core Units:
* Asset Pricing
* Macroeconomics
* Microeconomics
* Quantitative Methods in Economics
Second Term
You must complete four units, at least three of which should be selected from:
* Cases in Financial Management
* Derivatives
* Financial Econometrics
* International Finance
The final unit can be taken from the following list:
* Advanced Macroeconomics
* Advanced Microeconomics
* Applied Public Policy Analysis
* Microeconometrics
* Public Organisation
* Time-Series Econometrics
* Topics in Development Economics
Third Term and Vacation
The MSc is completed with a project-based dissertation of up to 15,000 words. The dissertation topic is decided upon after discussion with a supervisor. You will be able to draw from lists of suggested dissertation topics.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good degree (usually equivalent to a 2:1) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics or another quantitative subject, for example Engineering, Physics, Computing and any other relevant science. Good degrees in other disciplines that include modules in relevant subjects or evidence of mathematical ability may also be considered.
Language requirements
An IELTS score of 6.5 in all bands, or successful completion of the University of Bristol pre-sessional language course. We also accept other language tests; please see our website for details.
