The School of Geographical Sciences' MSc in Society and Space provides a thorough coverage of methodological, theorical and substantive issues pertaining the complex relationships between society and space. The MSc is formally recognised by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as providing Human Geography research training.
This programme aims to develop your interest in and knowledge and understanding of key philosophies, methods and sub-disciplines of human geography. It provides a grounding in the main theoretical approaches employed in human geography and also provides training in a range of research methodologies, from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. The programme will give you the opportunity to develop this generic set of theoretical and methodological understandings in a number of substantive areas of human geography research. All units on the MSc are compulsory so that you will gain experience in a variety of human geography areas and in a variety of philosophies and methods. The units are international in scope. The dissertation component of the MSc enables you to develop your skills in theory and method and your interests in particular areas of human geography.

You will complete a dissertation of up to 15,000 words. The project accounts for 60 credit points. You begin work in May and must submit by the middle of September.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
