This is a part-time programme providing continuing professional education for qualified social workers and other relevant professionals working with children and young people, their families and carers.
The programme is normally accessed by qualified social workers as part of their employment with local authorities or voluntary / independent sector organisations in the south-west. It is managed in partnership with local employers, and has been approved by the General Social Care Council (GSCC) as a post-qualifying award in specialist social work (taking the place of the previous Post-Qualifying Child Care Award.
The programme is assessed at Honours level. The teaching and assessment is the same for both the Graduate Diploma and the BSc (Hons), the choice of which will depend on your previous qualifications (see below).
The programme will be timetabled so that you can study on a part-time (eg day release) basis, and access to units will be modular. The average period of time over which students complete is two to three years.
