The Maritime Law programme offers a range of units for those wishing to specialise in shipping and related matters. It provides an opportunity to study comprehensively both the private and public law aspects of international maritime law, in particular in a commercial and international trade law setting.
Contents
Part One
You may study four units from the following, or three units from the following with a further unit chosen from any of the other LLM programmes.
* Admiralty Law
* Carriage of Goods
* International Law of the Sea
* Marine Insurance Law
Assessment is by examinations in the summer term. Some unts are also assessed via a coursework component.
Part Two
In the Spring Term, you choose a topic for a 12,000 word dissertation within the field of Maritime Law, for approval by the School of Law. After passing Part One, you start work on your dissertation for submission by mid-September. You must pass both parts to obtain an LLM and may not proceed to Part Two until you have passed Part One.
IELTS
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Entry requirements
A first or upper second class Honours degree in Law or a degree with an adequate law component. Overseas students with equivalent qualifications should supply a transcript of their examination results (an official English translation if the original is in a language other than English).Language requirements
An IELTS score of 7.0, with a minimum score of 6.5 in the Reading and Writing bands. We also accept other language tests; please see our website for details.
