Overview
This programme has been designed to address the demand in the financial services industry for advanced quantitative risk modelling skills. In recent years the regulators of both the banking and insurance industries have been very concerned with the development of capital adequacy systems to protect consumers, policy-holders and ultimately the financial system from the dangers posed by the failure of companies.
In banking the Basel II recommendations are being implemented by national supervisory authorities and in insurance a standard known as Solvency II is developing. The result of this has been the emergence of the new profession of risk manager and, in particular, a demand for individuals with the ability to apply quantitative models of financial risk.
If you have a strong background in mathematics or a related quantitative discipline, this course is the ideal entry to an exciting area with excellent prospects. It may also be followed as a top-up to an MSc in a related field such as Financial Mathematics or Actuarial Science.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
