These courses enable students to understand the complex and dynamic nature of health promotion processes, and to relate these to underlying themes of social and health inequalities and to their own values and practices.
Career and progression opportunities
Participants are prepared for a career as a health promotion specialist in the NHS or other statutory, voluntary or commercial organisation.

Contents
Course structure
Students work towards a postgraduate certificate, diploma or MA. Students are given preparatory reading before beginning the course. They take Part 1 of Foundations of Health Promotion during an intensive week held in September of their year of entry. This intensive induction is revisited during the first semester. Research Methods is also normally taken during the first semester.
Students on the PGDip then take Health Promotion Practice, a problem-based, group work exercise, together with two relevant modules chosen from the health and social science graduate programme.
Students complete the MA with a dissertation on a theme close to their focus of interest.
Integrated within the university's health and social science graduate programme, the course provides valuable cross-disciplinary experience through common modules shared with other courses in the scheme.

Degree and/or experience: Normally first degree plus relevant experience. Other applicants must demonstrate ability to study at postgraduate level. All applicants are interviewed. English-speaking students from overseas particularly welcome.
