The Research Master's is a two-year programme focused on top quality interdisciplinary research and the acquisition of high-level research skills.
The programme centres on the internationally renowned Archaeology research areas that are strongly represented in Leiden, in particular Human Origins, Early Agrarian Societies, Town and Country and Religion and Society. Within these specialisations, the courses aim to intensify and broaden the students' knowledge base and to develop research and publication skills. You will be encouraged to work with international sister institutes, e.g. to visit conferences, contribute to workshops and take courses outside the department.
The Research Master´s programme is characterised by both an intensification and a broadening of the students´ knowledge basis as well as the enhancement of research and publication skills. Moreover, through further development of fundamental course-related insights, students gain complementary practical experience. Finally, students are expected to produce a scientific product in the shape of a contribution to a congress or a publishable article in a scholarly journal.
