The MA in Social anthropology will enable the graduate to apply anthropological methodology and models of socio-cultural stability and change when conducting anthropological research in various societies and cultures; carry out empirical research based on qualitative methodology, applying participant observation and other anthropological fieldwork methods; design and conduct research on problematic situations caused by socio-cultural encounters between different global, transnational, national, regional and local development perspectives, majority and minority interests under conditions of social change, mobility, difference, and multiculturalism; address, both politically and practically, problems arising from socio-cultural differences; carry out the monitoring of stigmatised and/or marginalised and other segregated groups as well as represent the interests of these groups in intercultural mediation; identify and analyse informal intercultural communication of socio-culturally different and/or conflicting interest groups; prepare preventive strategies for inter-group conflicts, simulate possible and solve existing cultural conflicts; prepare national strategies, i.e. programmes for the implementation of sustainable development in education, public health, culture, and ethnic relations, environmental and cultural heritage protection; mediate in the fields of national and international cooperation on the issues of defence, business, politics, education, cultural diversity and environment; teach in anthropology departments.
Graduates of Social Anthropology are able to enrol in PhD programmes of Social Anthropology and Sociology as well as apply for positions in socio-economic development, urban and rural planning, public health, media, education as well as cultural heritage and environment protection departments of governmental and public institutions; migration, refugee and ethic minority institutions; international (cultural, educational, public health, defence) organisations and foundations; public opinion poll and market research companies; nongovernmental organizations; business corporations.
