MSC HORT is an international Master of Science Programme in the field of horticulture at Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany. The programme is research oriented and exceptionally well positioned to respond to the needs of horticultural constituencies throughout the world. Fruits, vegetables, flowers and trees – improving their quality, yield, economic performance and their eco-friendly cultivation are the domain of horticultural scientists. We do research in various fields of plant biotechnology, crop production and horticultural value chains, from molecular plant breeding and plant architecture modeling to the economics of crop production and market research.
We look back on a long tradition in research and teaching, we have exceptional access to facilities and equipment and we hold a strong relationship with a wide variety of constituency groups including producers, consumers, associations, research and extension institutions and diverse horticulture industries in Germany, Europe and beyond.
Graduates from across the world are prepared to handle complex horticultural production systems and to be acquainted with the latest research methods as to take responsible positions e.g. in research, commerce and higher administration.
The M.Sc. programme in International Horticulture has been running since 1997 with the objective to provide an excellent, research-based training in Horticultural Science for highly talented students worldwide. Rather than deliver only facts and techniques, we educate our students to become critical and responsible people. During their research project, students learn to analyse and structure problems, to ask the right questions, acquire knowledge and organize complex tasks, and learn to communicate complex and abstract matters.
Course Length * Prescribed length of study: 4 semesters
Course Content The curriculum starts each year on October 1 and consists of courses and research work leading to a thesis.
