Due to the fact that the processing of natural and synthetic polymers includes a complex range of problems, the character of this course is highly interdisciplinary. The students acquire knowledge in the areas of chemical composition and structure of natural and synthetic polymers; they also learn about the properties of macromolecular substances, their behaviour under different conditions and in processing.
Another area the students become familiar with is machinery, equipment, devices and relevant information technologies which significantly affect the productivity, quality and economy of the manufacturing of natural and synthetic polymers.
Graduate profile: The graduates are engineering experts with deep and complex knowledge, skills and experience not only in general physics and chemistry, but also in structure and properties of macromolecular substances, polymer processing and, last but not least, in the area of machinery, equipment, and economics relevant to the manufacturing of polymer products.
Graduates` possibilities at the labour market: The graduates can successfully work as technologists in the rubber and plastics industry and similar branches, in managerial positions, at research and development departments, trading firms and international companies dealing with production, processing, sales and applications of natural and synthetic polymers. They can also find places in private enterprising.
