The programme helps students gain a thorough understanding of human health and disease. The five specialisations allow for a bridge between science and business, or society in general.
The two-year programme provides you with a knowledge base for research in biomedical sciences. In addition, you will be able to focus on one of the specialisations: research, management, communication or education. The fifth specialisation, health, is open to a selected group of qualified medicine students only. The programme is offered by the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), a modern institution which combines research, education and patient care with a strong scientific orientation. Within the context of the programme, international exchange with other European universities is an option. The aim is to train students to become independent researchers, allowing them to continue their career in science, either with a view to obtaining a PhD degree or to find a position in an industrial or institutional research environment.
