Communications technology is one fundamental basis of our information age. It provides the infrastructure for a network of worldwide information exchange and is thus vital to all the regions in the world. The industry in this field is one of the fastest growing economies offering excellent opportunities for highly educated experts.
The Master's program is intended for international students holding a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Information and Communications Technology, or a comparable Degree. All courses will be given in English. Starting yearly around mid of October, we are offering a two year's program, divided into semesters. During the first three semesters you have to visit courses including exercises as well as practical training in various labs. An internship in the industry is voluntary and may fit into the break between semesters. The fourths semester is exclusively devoted to a six month's Master's thesis to be performed in the university or in the industry. After the successful termination you will be awarded the M.Sc. Degree. This Degree entitles you to enter Ph.D. or Dr. programs.
The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kiel offers an international study program for a Master's Degree in Digital Communications. The program is initiated from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in close cooperation with the Department of Computer Science. Our Faculty was founded in 1991 as a new branch of the traditional CAU. Therefore you will find a young, innovative team of teaching stuff and excellent and very up-to-date scientific equipment including your own PCs for your laboratory studies. Also, as we are still a small institution, you will find a very efficient and personal educational atmosphere with small classes and direct access to teachers and professors. With its unique situation at the waterfront of the Baltic Sea, Kiel is an attractive location for various activities including water sports, sailing, biking, etc.
