The Institute of Sport Science offers an integrative Master programme (MSc) in sport science with the possibility of occupation-field oriented specialisation. The main focus of the Master programme is on social and behavioural science themes in sport science, while still attaching importance to the sport-scientific disciplines of training and movement sciences and sport pedagogy. The Master Major in Sport Science not only imparts deepened knowledge in the different fields of sport science, but focuses on the adoption of method and problem-solving skills. This study programme is a continuation of the Bachelor of Science in Sport Science or of an equivalent qualification. The duration of this course is 2 years and comprises 120 ECTS points, whereas a total of 30 ECTS points is required within a Master Minor outside of sport science. The Institute of Sport Science recognizes all study areas amounting to 30 ECTS points that are offered at the University of Bern. The chosen subject within the Master Minor, the different compulsory elective courses in the Master Major, and especially the Master thesis enable the students to focus on specific topics and to create attractive combinations and profiles, e.g. sport management, sport tourism, sport and ecology, school sport, sport psychology, sport and health, sport and personality, development through sports, etc.
