At Leeds Business School we aim to provide a friendly and supportive teaching environment for all our students. We offer a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses.

The course is designed to provide advanced and challenging study in the increasingly significant field of supply chain management. The course enables participants to engage in a range of specialist learning in key areas, but which is integrated with a range of core business topics, such as strategy and operations.

The course is suitable for both supply chain professionals and people from a range of business backgrounds. The course is accredited to the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, CIPS, and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILTS). Students who have previous CIPS qualification may be eligible for exemptions and a reduction in fees.

The course is ideal for those wishing to pursue or enhance a career in supply chain management, purchasing management or logistics.


Contents

The course enables participants to engage in a range of specialist learning in key areas, but which is integrated with a range of core business topics, such as strategy and operations. The course has flexible delivery, over either one day (part-time) or two days (full-time) per week.

There is limited evening study and the final part of the course, the dissertation project will be on a topic of the students choosing, and the supervision timetable will be flexible around the students needs.

Students will also undertake a dissertation of 15,000 - 18,000 words on a topic or project of their choosing.

The course is taught in groups but almost exclusively assessed individually with different methods, allowing students to work independently towards their assessment goals, and often online resources will be available to support independent study. Students are encouraged to become independent and reflective learners with the dissertation providing the significant opportunity for these learning aspects to be fully demonstrated.

The teaching and learning methods will reflect the vocational and applied focus of the course which aims to develop students' theoretical understanding and the skills required for operating in challenging marketing environments.

Students can make full use of the facilities available, many of which are both online and on campus, via the Learning Centre in order to support their learning and assessment needs.The course academic staff also teach on CIPS professional courses at Leeds Metropolitan University which is now a leading provider of these qualifications and is designated as Northern UK centre for CIPS qualifications.

Requirements

You should either: be a graduate, have equivalent related professional qualifications (CIPS or CILTS) or have suitable managerial experience supported by evidence of ongoing personal development having taken place. Students may be interviewed before being offered a place.

International students will need to meet the University's English Language requirement which is IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.0, or equivalent.
