At Leeds Business School we aim to provide a friendly and supportive teaching environment for all our students. We offer a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses.

The MA Human Resource Management is an exciting new programme which has been developed in response to changing expectations and demands on Human Resource professionals working in increasingly complex, diverse and ever-changing work environments. It focuses on the role of the Human Resource practitioner as a strategist.

Together, the taught element and the dissertation provide a framework for developing a critical understanding of the relationship between strategic HRM and corporate objectives. It also aims to enhance your capability to advise senior management on strategic development and to explore HRM issues through strengthening your existing analytical and conceptual skills.

This award equips students with graduate membership of the CIPD and the knowledge, skills and experience to take up a wide range of posts within HR leadership. Previous students have included HRM managers for leading companies such as Marks and Spencer and Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc. You will be interested in this programme if you are looking for a career involving strategic people development.

Students register for graduate membership of the CIPD. Time in the programme is also allocated for students to undertake work placements or carry out projects of their own choice enabling them to widen their experience of HR.

Another key element is the 'Placement/project' which takes place for four weeks after the summer assesment period. The primary objective of the placement/project is on gaining work experience in a HR environment. This involves the student undertaking a range of HR activities for an organisation to gain experience of real life issues. This may involve undertaking a specific project.
