We design an individual research programme to suit your particular topic, and you meet your supervisor regularly for guidance and monitoring of your progress. We put particular emphasis on your ability to discuss your work orally and to present it in writing, so you give seminars within the Department from time to time. All students have a joint meeting with the Postgraduate Convenor once a term to discuss postgraduate issues.
The Department has its own micro-computer laboratory, shared office accommodation, and networked personal computers for research students. You will have the opportunity to attend postgraduate courses and seminars throughout the University of London, as well as meetings of the British Computer Society. We encourage everyone to attend the regular departmental research seminars and workshops. There are also opportunities in tutoring undergraduates.
