The MSc Marketing provides a significant theoretical and practical base on which to develop your career in marketing. The course has a clear international context, reflecting the fact that marketing is increasingly being practiced in an environment without borders.

Holders of the CIM PPGD qualification can claim exemption from cores 1,2 & 4 and may also be eligible for additional accreditation of prior learning.

The course provides early career employment opportunities across a wide range of marketing functions, for example: Marketing Research, Advertising, Marketing Communications, Agency Account Management and Planning, Brand Management, Retailing and Logistics Management, Customer Services, Customer Relationship Management, E-Marketing, General Marketing Management.

You also complete a dissertation which allows you to apply your knowledge to an identified market situation. The dissertation is 15,000 - 18,000 words in length and a Research Methods module will be delivered to support this.

Teaching and learning methods will include tutor led presentations, group discussion and will include appropriate use of communications and information technology. Students will make full use of the facilities available via the Learning Centre in order to support their learning and assessment needs.

A mixture of group and individual assessments will be utilised. Students will be encouraged to become independent and reflective learners with the dissertation providing the significant opportunity for these learning aspects to be fully demonstrated.

The range of assessment methods includes individual and group coursework assignments, group presentations and time constrained examinations.

These methods reflect some of the situations faced in work situations, including the need to provide secondary and primary research in support of marketing decisions, presentations to customers and other stakeholders, working in teams and meeting time constrained deadlines. Group presentations will include the need for individual elements and may include peer assessment as part of the overall grading. The Dissertation provides the significant opportunity for independent learning.

Requirements

A first degree in any discipline. No marketing work experience required.

International students will need to meet the University's English Language requirement which is IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.0, or equivalent.
