The MA Public Relations provides a comprehensive education in public relations for students from a variety of backgrounds, including those who aspire to the profession and those with some experience in PR desiring a formal education in the subject.

It provides students with knowledge and understanding of public relations in a social and business context, while also building practical skills such as planning public relations campaigns and specialist writing skills. We are one of the leading university PR departments in Europe. We have good relationships with employers - our students go on placements with leading consultancies and in-house PR departments.

Graduates are equipped with the knowledge and practical public relations skills required for a career within the expanding and popular PR profession.

* Ethical Communication Management
* Corporate & Specialist Public Relations.
* Research Methods

You will also choose two option modules and will write a dissertation of 15,000 - 18,000 words applying the knowledge and skills acquired on the course. A Research Methods module will be delivered to support this.

Length of study - 12 months for September entry, 16 months for February entrants.

Teaching and learning will take the form of lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops. You are encouraged to work in teams to aid your studies. There is some formal examination, but assessment will mainly be by coursework.

Leeds Metropolitan University has been at the forefront of development in public relations education, both nationally and internationally. The Centre for Public Relations headed by Professor Anne Gregory, former president of the Chartered Institute of Public Relation, is run at Leeds Met.

Assessment

There is a wide range of assessment methods, including individual and group coursework, group presentations, assignments and examinations.PlacementMA PR students are encouraged to go on short-term placements during their studies.

Requirements

* You should normally have a degree (or equivalent) or a professional qualification.
* You may also be considered for admission if you have a minimum of two years professional experience in public relations but few or no formal qualifications.
* International students will need to meet the course's English Language requirement which is IELTS 6.5, or equivalent.
