Leeds Business School has been delivering MBA programmes successfully for over 20 years. The current MBA programme has been designed to reflect the needs of contemporary global business and organisational managers.

The MBA at Leeds Business School is ideal if you are a graduate who already has some postgraduate work experience, but are seeking a broader management role or wish to progress to a more senior level of management.

It has been designed so that you are introduced to the key principles and processes of management, with the opportunity to customise the programme to your own needs and career aspirations by choosing from a range of module options.
A key feature of the MBA is its international dimension. We attract students from across the world, including China, India, Germany and African nations.

The MBA is an internationally recognised, and much sought after qualification. It is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and competences needed for a career in senior management. You will acquire not only practical knowledge and understanding of management activities in a global context, but also a range of personal and interpersonal skills and competences.


Contents

Our MBA programme consists of a number of integrated modules to enable you to take a brand and holistic perspective of management set in the context of your own organisation and your personal development.

Core modules:

* Management Essentials: Operational Decision Making, Enabling Organisational Excellence.
* Strategy into Action. Key areas include Strategic Leadership, Sustainable Business, Global Strategy, Knowledge and Technology & Information.
* Personal Effectiveness. Key areas include Personal and Organisational Priorities, Planning and Critical Thinking for Personal Development.
* Research and Professional Skills. Key areas include Techniques for Undertaking Management Research, Applying Theoretical Knowledge to Business Issues.

Option modules:

These include Strategic Marketing Management, Financial Decision Analysis, Doing Business in Europe, Business Development Options, Public Sector Management Options.

Consultancy Project

You will have the opportunity to undertake an in-company project and to present your findings to the organisation as well as completing an independent piece of written work. The project offers you the opportunity to explore further, in a live setting, an aspect or area of your studies that has attracted special interest and where the outcome can be of real benefit to your organisation.

European Residential

The European Residential is a popular part of the programme. You will visit a European capital or major city in order to broaden your horizons and gain knowledge about the European economy and the workings of the EU, as well as the issues faced by companies operating within a European context.

The 2009 European Residential was held in Stockholm, Sweden, and gave five days of insight into global business issues such as globalisation, entrepreneurship and innovation. This included visits to leading truck manufacturer Scania and global civil engineers Skanska, who built the London 'Gherkin'.

Teaching/Learning

The programme is delivered by a highly skilled course team of expert professorial staff and business practitioners who will challenge you to grasp new ideas and perspectives that will challenge the way you do business. Our workshops are designed to enable you to develop insight and to enhance your leadership capabilities.

Assessment

The programme's assessment strategy provides you with the opportunity to be assessed across a wide range of methods, including assignments, presentations, group works and examinations. The greater part of this will work will directly relate to real business scenarios and, where possible, will be applied to practice.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

You should be a graduate, or equivalent, and have at least three years post qualification work experience. If you are not a graduate you may also be admitted if you have sufficient managerial experience and the potential to meet the programme's learning requirements.

You should be at least 25 years of age. If English is not your first language you may be required to demonstrate English language capability to IELTS 6.5 standard or equivalent.
