Please note that the Certificate and Diploma are exit qualifications, and so where relevant are awarded to qualifying students who do not go on to work towards the MA.
Core courses cover: the history and context of community arts and its cross-cultural perspectives; the planning, communication and art form delivery skills necessary to deliver participatory arts workshops; current arts strategy and public funding policy; core skills needed to deliver arts programmes and workshops. You also choose options that may include the study of, for example, Brecht to Boal, digital media for social change, applied world music, or the relationship between identity and education.
Assessment: Practical and written assignments; dissertation or a practice-based arts project, accompanied by a portfolio/case study.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Take testYou should normally have a second class undergraduate degree in a relevant subject. As an alternative to the standard entrance requirements, you may have significant practical experience within professional and/or community arts as a practitioner and/or activist. In this case you will be asked to submit a portfolio outlining your achievements to date and reasons for wishing to study for this programme.
