The MSc programme in parasitology focuses on the study of parasites living on animals and humans and the problems they create, especially in many developing countries. The Faculty of Life Sciences has extensive expertise in the research of parasites and is the only university faculty in Scandinavia to offer an MSc degree in parasitology.
When you study parasitology, you study
Graduates are employed within research and education at universities and government research institutions or as consultants within the food sector and the environmental field. Job opportunities also exist within biotechnological research in Denmark and abroad, for example within the pharmaceutical industry.
International job possibilities include working as a consultant with DANIDA, WHO and the UN´s food and agriculture organisation, the FAO.
The MSc programme is a 2-year programme equivalent to 120 ECTS credits. The programme is taught in English.
The four compulsory courses in Basic Parasitology, Human Parasitology, Parasite Zoonoses and Animal Parasitology are designed to give you a basic knowledge about parasitology.
Elective courses
You are free to choose the optional courses among the faculty´s courses as well as those at other universities in Denmark and abroad. The optional courses help you to create your academic profile and specialisation.
The MSc is often based on experimental work and gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a specific subject. For example, you can specialise within tropical parasites, medical parasitology, parasites in foods, parasites in livestock production, parasite zoonoses, and the population biology of parasites.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Students holding on of the following BSc degrees are admitted provided that their examinatin includes specified courses within :
Bachelors from other Faculties in the University of Copenhagen or from other national and international universities must have equivalent qualifications and their admission will be assessed on an individual basis.
Applicants with English as a second language must pass one of the following English tests:
1) IELTS Test
International English Language Testing System, with a minimum score of 6.0.
2) TOEFL® Test
Test of English as a Foreign LanguageTM, passed with a minimum score of 83 in the internetbased test (IBT) or minimum 560 in the paper based test. The computer based TOEFL test is not accepted at LIFE

EU/EEA-citizens do not pay tuition fees in Denmark. However, all students applying for an MSc programme with citizenship outside EU/EEA must pay an annual tuition fee of Euro 14,000. All non-EU/EUA applicants applying for admission to an MSc degree programme are automatically considered for a limited number of scholarships and tuition fee waivers. Priority is given to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance.
