Agris Mundus is a world-class MSc programme aimed at providing you with the qualifications to deal with the variety of specific local conditions in which agricultural development takes place. Agris Mundus is part of the Erasmus Mundus programme initiated by the European Commission to enhance and promote European higher education throughout the world.
The overall objective of Agris Mundus is to train you to cope with the current global/international concerns in agriculture and rural development. Agris Mundus deals with the interaction between technical design (i.e. soil fertility, irrigation, erosion and degradation control, pest and disease control, drainage, moisture conservation) and social and market conditions (local, regional and global).
Partner UniversitiesAgris Mundus is offered by a consortium consisting of six European universities:
Career opportunities
You will be qualified to identify and critically analyse key factors shaping the development of crops, forests and animal production, the management of research and rural development projects and finally, the sustainable use of natural resources and the environment. You will also be able to formulate and provide effective and appropriate responses to complex agriculture and natural resources related issues.
As an Agris Mundus student, you can choose between ten study tracks. No matter which track you choose, you will be studying at one partner university during the first year and at one of the other partner universities during the second year.
A two-year training programme of 120 ECTS (European Credits Transfer System) selected by the Erasmus Mundus programme. Thus, EU-funded scholarships are provided for third country nationals participating in this Master courses.
10 designed training tracks:
Mobility first! All training tracks involve automatically:the first year (M1) in one institution, the second year (M2) in a second institution of the European Union.
Whatever the training track is:all Agris Mundus students attend a common orientation week before the commencement of the first year (M1) and a common research methodology workshop at the beginning of the second year (M2).
The 4th semester is devoted to the thesis work whose presentation will take place in front of a mixed jury (from the M1 and from the M2).
Agris Mundus M.Sc. is a product of AgriNatura the European Alliance on Agricultural Knowledge for Development.
All Agris Mundus students attend a common orientation week before the commencement of the first year. One major objective of the orientation week is to introduce you to the Agris Mundus programme and to start collective discussions between staff and students regarding the choice of optional modules in their future studies. At the beginning of the second year, you will meet the other Agris Mundus students again for a joint research methodology workshop. This event is specifically organised to prepare you for the strong research orientation of the second year and to build up a common scientific corpus between the nine study tracks.
During the second year, you will be doing academic training and write a thesis based
on at least five months of field work. In most cases, the field work will take place in
a developing country in the Mediterranean or tropical zones.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
More informationAll the students, irrespective of their country of origin or of the training track they candidate to, are subjected to the same criteria.
Only candidates who are able to show evidence of a very good level and well-constructed motivation have a chance to be admitted. Preference will be given to candidates with appropriate professional experience and strongly convincing recommendations by an academic or a professional body. Candidates who cannot show evidence of such criteria are invited to refrain from applying.
Choice of the training tracks
The candidate is invited to select the training track he/she applies for. Once the admission being official, the candidate has to follow the choosen study tracks. Changes remain possible once the student has started the course, only upon agreement with the coordinator and the tutors in charge of the M1 and the M2.
