Location of University of Coimbra

The Masters Course in Automotive Engineering at FCTUC is geared to train engineers with capacity to act on development activities, engineering design, manufacture and assembly of vehicles and components or systems used in the automotive industry. In addition to these performances is expected that the skills acquired in this training will enable the development of consultancy, maintenance, management and research activities.

The creation of such a course will also significantly increase the exchange between companies and universities, since it is expected that an important part of future course students have professional activity in the sector. It is intended that the topics of research to develop the master thesis are selected to solve the real problems felt in the companies, contributing to the improvement of its competitiveness.

It is expected that the type of problems in analysis fosters an increased interest from academics involved in tasks of innovation, complementing the dominant profile in the academic sector, where the focus has been mainly focused on fundamental research.

Master in Automotive Engineering is organized into four semesters, during which students will carry 120 ECTS, under the provision of Decree No. 74/2006 of 24 March.

Requirements

To the MEA can apply, with access subject to evaluation, students with a Bachelor degree in the areas of Mechanical Engineering, Automotive and Electrical. The selection process, respecting the law, is in accordance with specific regulations of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology. The access by transfer regimes, change of course or re-entry is made in accordance with the regulations of the UC.
