This course delivers key competencies of the tourism business, focussing on international tourism management. As managers in the tourism industry need the awareness of the complexity of interrelationships of the players involved and the sensibility for changes in demands and environments, they require the skills to adjust their business policy to these changes. This needs strategic thinking, creativity, intercultural competence, communication skills and leadership, the capability of self-learning and the stimulation for organisational learning and knowledge management. With this comprehensive qualification you will be provided and finally equipped with the competitive advantage to securing a career in the tourism business. You have the choice that carries a longer mileage.
The core emphases of the course are the following:
Target Group
The postgraduate course Master in International Tourism Management (MTM) offers compulsory subjects only, all of which focus on the systematic preparation of future managers for the various tasks within international tourism management in a global environment. In order to address the complexities in coordinating the different tourism-related industries and to fulfill the need to upgrade skills in this sector, training needs to be improved.
Key features:
The MTM-course consists of 16 modules, which all have to be completed. Students take an exam in 13 out of the 16 modules. Lectures account for about 630 hours (see general course structure in chart). The modules comprise either 30 or 60 hours. Usually one module is completed after two weeks. Classes are held in English. The optional internship can be done in Germany or abroad. The students gain credit points for their examination results according to the ECTS system (see general structure chart).
