Education of specialists in Advanced Process Engineering is based on a modern curriculum merging knowledge from exact sciences, information technology and engineering, complemented with molecular design. On the basis of the gained knowledge, the graduate master engineers of this specialisation will be able to use the concepts and methods of advanced computer aided process engineering in industry, pilot or laboratory scale applications.
The main objectives of the specialisation are:
* Professional build-up of chemical engineers with the master degree by developing competences based on advanced knowledge of chemical, biochemical and environmental process engineering, accompanied by strong computer aided process engineering expertise
* Development the master students abilities for performing design, research, optimization, advanced control and innovation activities, as response to the information technology demand in the chemical and biochemical engineering fields
* Developing master graduates capable to fulfil demands of the jobs featuring multidisciplinary activities in process engineering, process informatics and applied computer science
* Setting up a source of specialists for recruiting the future scientific researchers aimed to work in institutions performing research activities, with national or international collaboration, and serving as human resource for the higher education system
* Preparation of highly qualified master graduates able to continue their studies at the PhD level.
Target group: Graduates of thechemical, biochemical, environmental, economical, mechanical and electrical engineering fields, aimed to perform design, integration of process computer systems, research, CAD design and programming type of activities, with applications in chemical and petrochemical, food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, wood and furniture, and textile industries, in environmental protection and health care laboratories as well as in research institutions.
Partner institutions/collaborators: Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule Zurich
The master studies represent the second cycle of the university studies. The MA programmes enable the students to further their research into a specific domain and they prepare the way towards their applying for the doctoral programmes. A master's degree corresponds to a two-year postgraduate program (120 ECTS credits, 30 ECTS in each semester). The curriculum of a master´s programme provides 14-16 hours a week. There are 4-6 disciplines in each semester.
Core courses
Process Intensification, Chemical Process Mathematical Modelling and Artificial Intelligence, Process Design Using Specialized Software, Chemical Process Advanced Control, Heat Integration and Pinch Technology, Risk Factors Assessment, Safety and Environment Security, Molecular Modelling and Design
Thesis
The completion of master studies assumes a dissertation corresponding to 20 credits, beyond the 120 credits of the curriculum.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Selection criteria
The Final Admission Score is computed as a weighted average score between General Score of the Bachelor Graduation Program (75% weighting factor) and the Bachelor Program Final Examination Score (25% weighting factor).
Additional Criterion: Candidates have to present a Linguistic Proficiency Certificate for English language obtained from the Alpha or Lingua Centre or equivalent proficiency certificates (TOEFL, Cambridge)
Admission procedure
Non-EU citizens can enroll at Babes-Bolyai University based on the letter of acceptance delivered by the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation without having to pass an admission exam. Foreign applicants who want to enroll at Babes-Bolyai University as self sponsored students have two choices:
1. Submit their documents to the Department of European Affairs andInternational Relations within the Ministry of Education, Research andInnovation (28-30, Gen. Berthelot Street, 010168 Bucharest, Romania, Phone no:+40 21 405 62 00).
2. Submit their documents directly to Babes-Bolyai University, Centre forInternational Cooperation (68 Avram Iancu St., 400083 Cluj-Napoca, Phone no:+40 264 429 762 ext 6023).
Self-sponsored EU citizens follow the same admission procedures as Romanian citizens. A precondition for application is the recognition of the study certificates (high school, BA) by the Romanian Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation. Our office can assist EU citizens in gettingthis recognition, by collecting and sending their files further to the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation. The application file must comprise the following documents: Documents necessary for admission at Master´s Level:
* Certified copy of the following documents translated into Romanian/English/ French or German, in case the originals are not written in one of the languages mentioned above:
a) High-school graduation diploma
b) Bachelor's Degree diploma
c) Birth certificate
