Our MSc Statistics and Computer Science is suitable if you are a mathematically-trained graduate wishing to develop expertise in aspects of computer science. You gain experience in various aspects of advanced statistics and in the use of Matlab in mathematical research, while our optional modules include up-to-date techniques in machine learning, evolutionary computation and panel data methods. (If you have no experience of programming in Java, you are required to take our double module Programming with Java).
Key employability skills of data analysis, mathematical modelling and problem solving, as well as independent work, presentation and writing skills, mean our graduates are sought by employers in the pharmaceuticals industry, medical and clinical research, banking, investment and forecasting, gaming, weather science, local government and other fields.
