The University of Essex is one of the UK's leading academic institutions, ranked ninth nationally in the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
Public law and domestic human rights law are currently two of the most dynamic areas of law. The Human Rights Act (1998), the growth in judicial review and the expansion of regulatory systems constitutional reforms present many new challenges and opportunities for lawyers and courts. Our UK Human Rights and Public Law will be particularly attractive if you are in the UK but should also appeal if you are from the Commonwealth or other common law jurisdictions, or from other member states of the EU. While our primary focus is UK law, opportunities exist for you to pursue modules in comparative law and international protection of human rights.
At a time when the UK is undergoing immense constitutional change with respect to human rights and devolution, and when judicial review of government action is resorted to with increasing regularity, our LLM UK Human Rights and Public Law provides you with essential in depth coverage taught by academics who are leading scholars in this field.
