Masters study Chemistry offers specialised knowledge and skills in the field of inorganic, organic, physical, analytical chemistry as well as biochemistry. It is compiled on the basis of experience of our staff and in accordance with EuroMaster recommendations as well as with thorough analysis of some reputable chemistry Master studies in Europe. Industry also contributed largely in the making of the programme. The modules available express the trends and needs of research and industry in Europe (analytics, environment, materials). A graduate finishing the study will aquire the title Master in Chemistry.
Characteristics of entire Bologna structured study system Chemistry 3yrs (BSc) +2yrs (MSc) +3yrs (PhD) is pretentiousness of competences: on the first degree the suggested undergraduate program with mostly basic and general knowledges introduced necessary base or for immediate occupation or for continuation of study; the student will upgrade his knowledge with most advanced knowledges from field of chemistry and related sciences on the Masters, two-year degree, while in further three-year doctoral study new knowledge will be created.
Masters course of Chemistry is stressed on the developing of abilities of students, which are characteristic for an innovative research environment:
o use of scientific methods and achieving of scientific solutions;
o contemporarily treating of problems from identification, abstractions, structurings and systematizations of problems;
o use of complete skills for rescuing of problems on base of analytical and synthetic methodologies (system approach and restraining of complexity).
While the Masters programme focuses on basic chemistry, an important goal of the study program is applied and technical chemistry. Beside mathematically-natural history contents chemical profile contains also shared chemical-technical contents, of characteristic for chemical programs on technical guided faculties, so of characteristic behind useful and technically oriented chemistry.
Masters study Chemistry is a contemporary study process of chemistry, and the graduate is trained regarding chosen module:
o analytical chemistry,
o environmental chemistry or
o chemistry of materials.
Contemporary nature of study process is ensured with the introduction of contemporary teaching methods and with established professors. The qualification of graduates represents a respectable base for their continuation study on doctoral program and independent execution of more demanding tasks from the field of chemistry.
1st year
Ground subjects:Coordination chemistry, Analytical chemistry III, Organic chemistry III, Molecular biology and molecular genetics, Structure of atoms and molecules, Inorganic chemistry III, Selected chapters in analytical chemistry, Selected chapters in organic chemistry, Biochemistry II, Structural chemistry.
2nd year
Module 1: analytical chemistry
Ground subjects:Organic analysis II, Electrochemical methods, Chemometrics
Module 2: materials
Ground subjects:Organic materials, Inorganic materials, Thermal characterization of materials
Module 3: Environmental chemistry
Ground subjects:Chemistry of environment II, Organic pollutants, Chemistry and analysis of waters
Elective subjects: Polymeric membranes, Assuring of quality of measurements, Systems of assuring of quality, Combinatorial chemistry, Pharmacogenomics, Statistical thermodynamics, Mathematical procedures in organic chemistry, Numerical procedures in chemistry.
Study is followed by a Master Thesis, which is mentored by a professor in the chosen subject.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
