The main aims of the International Commercial Law LLM are to give you the opportunity to:
* acquire a detailed knowledge and understanding of legal rules relating to international commerce and the resolution of disputes; and
* develop the ability to analyse, evaluate and reflect upon these rules.
Students who successfully complete the International Commercial Law LLM will have acquired significant research and analytical skills in this area of law. They should therefore have substantially enhanced their prospects of gaining employment in professional legal private practice, business or legal consultancy in industry.
What will you study?
You take two core modules; two option modules from an extensive list; plus legal research theory and dissertation modules.
Our LLM courses are accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority for CPD purposes. On successful graduation, you are also automatically eligible for membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
You take four modules (at least two of which must be selected from the 'core modules' list) plus legal research theory and dissertation modules.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

* a good honours degree in law (usually a 2:2 degree or above), OR a good joint honours degree (2:2 or above) where the major component is in law eg Accounting and Law or Combined Studies
* a Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE), Legal Practice Course or Bar Vocational Course
* a qualification as a solicitor or barrister
We welcome applications from international students. Holders of non-UK degrees or legal professional qualifications will be subject to the University's normal entry procedures with regard to the assessment of the equivalence of qualifications.
