The Legal Studies MA provides an opportunity for students who hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (or equivalent) to 'top up' to a masters qualification. The course aims to develop your research and investigative skills, alongside a critical and research-oriented approach to the study of a chosen area of law.
This course provides a practical avenue for you to research a particular area of law that interests you and, using various methodologies and analytical skills, produce an extended piece of writing.
You will first concentrate on the development of your skills in advanced legal research and the use of theory to support it. You will then move on to construct and produce your own research piece within your choice of legal interest, demonstrating all the skills you have learnt.
Please note that this is an indicative list of modules and is not intended as a definitive list.
This module aims to develop your skills in advanced legal research and your appreciation of the theoretical underpinning of legal research. It is essential preparation for the dissertation module.
This module enables you to choose your own area of legal interest to research in depth and to produce an extended piece of academic writing demonstrating your skills in research and analysis.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
