Effective human resource management and development has the potential to create competitive advantage for organisations. As a subject area, it is concerned with how an organisation goes about managing, leading and developing people. This is both challenging and complex for HR specialists and managers alike, particularly in an international context. This course is designed to enable you to assess the nature, role and contribution of the human resource function in organisations. The Human Resource Department engages students in developing strategic thinking and awareness, applying human resource systems and practice, and developing critical and reflective thinking in this field. You will gain experience of studying and learning with people from different nationalities, cultures and backgrounds, who share a common interest in the management of human resources. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in research and critical analysis that will contribute to both postgraduate study and organisational life. The Postgraduate Certificate stage develops a sound underpinning knowledge of organisational behaviour, management and leadership with particular emphasis on managing across cultures. The Postgraduate Diploma stage develops a sound underpinning knowledge and practice in core areas of Human Resource Management focusing on internationalisation. The Masters stage focuses on strategic HRM and developing specialist knowledge through a dissertation.
