The M.Phil. in Social Work Research is designed for social science graduates who are also professionally qualified social workers, and who seek Masters level research training in social work.
The programme will build on students´ academic and professional experience and develop their capacity to understand, undertake and commission applied social research in areas of current social work concern.
Current social work research projects in the School include work on long term foster care, children and domestic violence, drug using mothers, hospital based bereavement services, and unaccompanied minors.
The School offers professional social workers a range of options for post-graduate study through taught courses and research degrees. The School's social work staff has many active links with Schools of Social Work internationally.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take test* at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country
* a fluent command of the English language
Candidates must have a good honors degree in the social sciences, a social work qualification - National Qualification in Social Work or equivalent, a minimum of one year´s employment in a qualified social work post.
