Programme Description

The aim of this part-time graduate programme in management is to develop managerial competencies in all issues related to competitive success in the
international business environment,with a particular emphasis on International Marketing.

The programme will address fundamental challenges confronting organisations that are competing in the increasingly competitive international market place.
It will enhance management practice by developing a deep understanding of the strategic challenges that must be addressed to build a formidable market presence in an international setting.

The programme is particularly focused on the development of high potential candidates,who will form the next generation of Chief Executives, by equipping
them with the ambition to grow & internationalise their businesses, through its strong focus on strategy and execution, and enhancing their capability in the global
marketplace.The course material will provide participants with a practical understanding of how to compete successfully in a challenging international environment,which will
ensure that the strategic management skills ofparticipating Irish organisations are on a par with the best of their international competitors.

It is built upon five distinct streams including:

  • An overarching focus on strategic leadership that allows managers to shape personal and careeroriented developmental strategies.
  • A suite of international business and international marketing modules, which will reflect the distinct challenges of competing in an international business environment.
  • A suite of modules focussed on international strategy, which are central to the development of global strategic managerial competencies.
  • A major integrating project, which is central to translating theory into practice in a real-world setting.
  • A focus on execution, through a significant mentoring dimension.

The programme is run in 'executive management' style with part-time attendance over two years. It is designed to ensure that each participating manager can be fully effective in his or her company while completing the programme.

Participants will spend an Explorer Week at Babson College where they will participate in a programme especially tailored to meet the needs and objectives of the International Business programme.

YEAR 1

Nine modules are completed in the first year.The primary focus of the first year will be in the following area of study:

  • Strategic Leadership
  • International Business
  • Integrating Strategy & Change
  • Global Marketing
  • ExplorerWeek

YEAR 2

The second year will include:

  • continuation modules in Strategic Leader,International Business and Global Marketing
  • The Master Practitioner Series
  • The Integrating Project

A significant part of the year will be devoted to the practical application of the learning derived from the programme through the Integrating Project framework, supported by the Mentoring programme.

ASSESSMENT

Participants will be required to complete assignment on the topics covered at the end of each module.The "Integrating Project"will also form part of the overall
programme assessment for the participant.

Requirements

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country. Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test. More information

Applications are accepted from:

  • Graduates of recognised universities with first or second class honours degrees.
  • Holders of degrees, diplomas or professional qualifications from recognised institutions who, in addition, have relevant work experience.
  • Individuals with professional experience, deemed to be of equivalent standing to academic or professional qualifications,may be considered for admission.
  • Candidates must satisfy the programme selection committee of their ability to cope with the practical and academic demands of the programme.
  • A final prerequisite for the prospective candidate is a personal ambition to optimise the benefits to be gained from the programme and to make a contribution to the long term competitiveness of their organisation.
  • Places available on any one programme are limited.

A selection procedure is used to ensure that all participants are of an exceptionally high calibre.

English language requirements:

  • IELTS: Grade 6.5
  • TOEFL: 230-computer based, 570 paper based
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English: Grade C
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: Grade C
