The MSc in Management Practice is a two year degree course designed specifically for chief executives and senior managers, run jointly by the Irish management Institute and the School of Business, Trinity College.
It is designed exclusively for experienced senior managers who:
The typical participant will have had general management experience at CEO level or will be at the top of a major corporate function within the organisation such as financial
controller, production director, marketing manager. They will come from large and small indigenous companies, multinational subsidiaries, as well as the state, semi-state and banking sectors.
The average age of participants on the programme is around forty, with a range from 35 to 45. It is only in exceptional circumstances that participants who are not in their early thirties at least will have had the breadth of experience required or the authority to implement the change which is an integral part of the programme.
Recognising that people learn most effectively from the solution of real life problems, the emphasis throughout is on the application of what is being learned to the individual´s organisation and job. In order to do this a high emphasis is placed on one-to-one personal tutoring and consequently the number which can be taken on the programme in any one year is limited.
The action learning principles upon which the programme is based have been
incorporated in many new programmes in Europe and North America.
This programme, which was first in the field, has thus become a model.
The programme is run in 'executive management' style with part-time attendance over two years. It is designed to ensure that each participating manager can be fully effective in his or her company while completing the programme. Classes will take place in the IMI campus in Sandyford Road.
Over a two year period, four modules are undertaken. Under the theme of `The Strategic Management of Change´, three expected outcomes are:
The Project work for the four modules are as follows:
Module I: "Orientation Paper" on own organisation
Module II: Action Research Proposal
Module III: "Position Paper" and "Literature Review"
Module IV: Submission of thesis on Action Research Process
The expected outcomes include Organisational Performance and Personal Growth.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
