The programme is designed for senior civil servants at Assistant Secretary level who are nominated by their Departments. The programme recruits 12 students on a two-year cycle.
The next programme commences in September 2010. The first year of the programme consists of three taught modules relevant to the strategic management of public sector organisations; these are examined at the end of each module. In the second year students complete a group project based on analysis of carefully targeted public sector organisations overseas.
Each student also completes an individual project concerning a strategic issue within his or her department.
The Public Sector Programme includes eight modules over two years
Year 1:
Module I: Understanding Change in Public Sector Organisations
Module II: Shaping the Building Blocks of Organisational Change
Module III: Managing Reform and Modernisation in the Public Sector
(Modules I-III: 8 weeks per module, each beginning with a three-day introduction, followed by one day per week.)
Year 2:
Module IV-VIII: International Benchmarking Project
Personal Dissertation on Management of Change
(Modules IV-VII: Two-day meeting per month, plus individual and group project work, and international field research.)
