This two-year part-time Masters programme has been developed by a team of practising faculty, to specifically address the unique challenges within organisations. The programme is aimed for those who support and enable change, wishing to deepen their understanding of organisations and the contribution they can make in increasingly complex and uncertain environments.

The programme offers the unique combination of; access to the latest research, experience of faculty/participants and the combination of a practical approach with theoretical insight. A virtual element is also incorporated into the programme design, supporting participants to develop their ability to work successfully in a virtual environment.

The programme is designed to develop an individual's practice through a combination of grounded practical inquiry and capability development, theoretical rigour and active experimentation. The programme attracts international participants who wish to develop their practice in a peer learning community, by interacting with each other and faculty in processes designed to engage the full range of learning styles. Our experiential approach builds on existing skills, provokes self-reflection and integrates new learning from the start.

Contents

Module 1: The foundation of my practice

  • Explore the learning territory
  • Develop your awareness of your theories
  • Explore and locate ideas about organising, change, learning and intervention

Practice Groups

Practice groups run throughout the programme up to Module 4. Each group consists of about six members and is facilitated by a member of faculty. Their purpose is to support the development of your professional and personal cababilites, provide an oppurtunity for sharing and reflection and provide a link between theory and practice by exploring your real life organisational issues.

Module Aims

  • Look at how we understand and think about organisations and the implications of this for our practice, through collaborative action inquiry

Workshop 2: Philosophies in action

.

  • Clarify the role of inquiry, both as a form of organisational intervention and as a particular practice of learning

Webinar 1: An introduction to virtual working

  • Critically examine the concept of organisations and communities as socially constructed, cultural patterns of relating and the implications of this for intervening in organisations

In this module we will invite you to consider your perspective on the broader social and ecological contexts in which we live and work, experimenting with various inquiry methods.
