Students are introduced to practical, real world applications through core organic synthetic methods and analysis in application to sustainable chemistry. The importance and applications of catalysis in hetero/homogeneous and biological environments is also investigated. Also, the principles and procedures of practical laboratory techniques, especially as applicable in development of sustainable chemical processes are covered. Students are introduced to real world problems through practical applications, visiting lecturers and an extensive summer research project.

The course is suitable for graduates in chemistry or a related discipline providing an adequate background in chemistry, e.g. chemical engineering, pharmacy, pharmacology or biochemistry. Applicants should possess or expect to obtain a 1st or 2nd class UK Honours degree, or equivalent.
Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to pass either IELTS/TOEFL exams.
Note: International students pursuing part-time programmes of study are not eligible for Tier 4 (General Student) visas and must have alternative leave to remain in the UK if they intend to study at the University in person.
