This course provides extensive training relevant to the requirements and demands of professional opera companies, addressing important employability issues that will become increasingly important in the coming decade. You will receive one-to-one singing lessons and coaching, specialist language tuition and fully integrated classes in stagecraft, including movement and dance. Through a professional operatic process, the course supports the development of your understanding, imagination and powers
of expression. In addition to a significant role in at least one fully-staged opera production, you will work with professional repetiteurs and directors over two years in the preparation of opera scenes presentations, which will typically include baroque and contemporary works as well as standard repertoire. The programme also provides intensive training in audition technique, with input from prominent staff members and artists from opera companies including Welsh National Opera.
Several graduates of RWCMD have gone on to have successful careers in opera, both at home and abroad including Glyndebourne, Garsington, Grange Park Opera, Clonter Opera, Opera in Northern Ireland as well as at Welsh National Opera itself.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
