Cardiac Rehabilitation is defined as the sum of activities required to influence favourably the underlying cause of the disease, as well as to ensure the patients the best possible physical mental and social conditions, so that they may, by their own efforts, preserve, or resume when lost, a place as normal as possible in the life of the community (WHO., 1993).
This course aims to provide health professionals with an understanding of Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention, enable health professionals to provide an effective Cardiac Rehabilitation service and to objectively evaluate their clinical practice through research.
The course builds on the former MSc in Cardiac Rehabilitation. There is a greater emphasis on prevention of cardiac disease and the importance of primary care is highlighted through various elements of the course. These modifications reflect the recent advancements in health policy and delivery.
