The Resilience MSc provides enhanced understanding of resilience, its context as well as individual capabilities that will assist professionals and graduates in confronting the security challenges that they face. The elective modules allow students to explore areas of particular interest and relevance.
The Resilience programme at Cranfield University is designed to provide leaders and managers, as well as scholars and policy analysts with a sophisticated understanding of the relationship between security challenges, societies’ and organisations’ development of a rigorously structured response through analysing risks and vulnerabilities. The MSc concentrates on how to reduce the probability and impact of threats and how organisations and systems can become robust and resilient. This course aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge and analytical skills to confront security challenges with resilient responses.
Suitable for current professionals or graduates who need to improve their organisation's resilience to disruptive challenges.
Takes you on to pursue careers in: public service management; emergency services; armed forces; corporate risk and security management; critical national infrastructure organisations; humanitarian organisations (eg UN, ICRC, NGOs) and other organisations in the security, development and humanitarian sectors.
You will be taught by Cranfield University academic staff at the Defence Academy - College of Management and Technology under the academic directorship of Professor Hazel Smith, Head of the Cranfield University Resilience Centre.
Duration MSc Executive (part-time): 2½ years (8 single week residential schools) plus a 6-month thesis (studied at distance). PgDip: 2 years. PgCert: 1 year.
The course is offered on a modular basis - eight weeks over two and a half years allowing participants to study in conjunction with their full time employment.

Successful completion of the first four compulsory modules, plus one elective module results in a PgCert. A PgDip requires completion of all seven compulsory modules and three elective modules. To obtain an MSc, students study all seven compulsory modules, three elective modules and complete a research project in their particular area of interest.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
