The ongoing success of the air transport industry has been made possible by rapid technological advances and associated high investment, resulting in demands for an increasingly skilled workforce. More recently, industry liberalisation and privatisation in many parts of the world has led to increased competition, spurring further gains in efficiency and a continued decline in air fares.
