Structure
The MSc in Autonomous Vehicle Dynamics and Control consists of two equally weighted components: the taught course and a research thesis.
Modules
The taught course consists of lectures in three areas. The compulsory modules in the areas of dynamics and in control systems provides a firm grounding for their application to the third area of autonomous systems and technology. Optional modules are available to enabling you to pursue your particular interests.
The compulsory modules are:
* Flight Dynamics Principles
* Control Systems
* Decision Making in Autonomous Systems
* Guidance and Navigation Systems
* Modelling of Dynamic Systems
* Air-Vehicle Modelling and Simulation
* Sensor Fusion
* Group Flight Test Report (Introduction to Aerodynamics, Aircraft Performance, Stability and Control)
Optional modules include:
* Autonomous Systems and Operations
* CFD for Aerospace Applications
* CFD for Rotating Wings
* Computational Engineering
* Data and Information Fusion
* Multivariable Control Systems for Aerospace Applications
* Fundamentals of Rotorcraft Performance, Stability and Control
* Vehicle Power and Propulsion
Research thesis
Students decide on a research topic during the first teaching period and work towards an individual thesis during the second half of the MSc course. The research thesis allows students to develop their own particular area of interest, often providing an opportunity to collaborate with industry.
Research topics can be either selected from those put forward by the teaching team or chosen by students in agreement with the academic staff.
