You have the opportunity to reflect critically on social work in contemporary society, developing your personal and professional perspectives. The programme is taught in conjunction with the London Boroughs of Lewisham, Southwark, Bexley, Brent, Croydon, Kensington and Chelsea, and three voluntary agencies: the South London Family Service Unit, the Cassel Centre, and the London Region of the NSPCC. You spend approximately half of the programme at Goldsmiths and half in practice placements. You undertake the following course of study: human growth and development, an observation of a baby or young child, assessment and intervention, interprofessional and interdisciplinary working, the values of social work, models, methods, and theories of social work, and undertake formally assessed placements. The Goldsmiths component consists of project work, group work, seminars, and private study. Supporting lectures and workshops explore the purpose, models, methods, settings and theory of social work; the values of social work; statutory powers and legal principles; social policy and administration; human growth and development; and organisational contexts.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
