The Master´s Program in Computer Science, offered by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, has a research-based profile. This program is designed to provide students with the required expert knowledge, skills and methods as well as interdisciplinary key qualifications, taking into account the requirements and changes in the professional world, in order to enable them to work scientifically, to classify and utilise scientific discoveries in a critical manner and to act responsibly.
The Computer Science Department of Bonn University has a long-standing tradition. Founded in 1969 as one of the first institutes for computer science in Germany, it has since been known for its substantiated instruction which is strongly characterized by the closeness to up-to-date research in all decisive areas of computer science.
The close co-operation with many renowned research institutions in and near Bonn not only enables the students to access interesting internships, but also enlarges the range of fascinating subjects for theses and research work.

The Master's Program comprises four tracks, each corresponding to one of the four main areas of competence in research of the Computer Science Department:
* Algorithmics
* Graphics, Vision, Audio
* Information and Communication Management
* Intelligent System
The standard period of study is 4 semester, including the master thesis. The Program will be taught in the form of modules which, as a rule, consist of teaching units with a duration of one semester. Each module is completed by an exam. The basis of evaluation are score points (ECTS-points). The Master's Program is successfully completed with the obtainment of 120 ECTS-points. Of these, 88 ECTS-points may be obtained from modules, 30 points from the master thesis and 2 points from the seminar accompanying the master thesis.
