Location of Royal School of Library and Information Science
The Master of Library and Information Science programme is a 2-year full-time postgraduate programme for those with a degree in LIS or an equivalent background. Hosted by the RSLIS, the programme leads to the award of the qualification of MLISc.
Specialists in Information and Knowledge
Information and knowledge are increasingly vital resources for the development and success of businesses and other organisations. Modern information technology is creating whole new ways of managing and utilising these resources but is also creating a need for particularly highly qualified and professional staff. This programme provides:
* a theoretical and general insight into information and knowledge production
* an insight into how to analyse and manage the information resources of a business or other organisation
* an insight into how to produce information policy and a strategy for putting it into practice
* an insight into project management and other forms of management
* an insight into how to plan, run and evaluate information systems in practice
Working Methods
This is a full-time study programme running for two years, with each of its four parts lasting for one semester. It features an extensive and demanding curriculum. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of modern information and communication technology and be able to make active and independent use of relevant software during the programme.
The programme involves between 6 and 8 hours of classes each week, with the rest of the time being set aside for preparation and independent study.
Contents
There are 2 modules every semester - a constituent module (20 ECTS) and an alternating module (10 ECTS) . The constituent modules will concentrate on either of the following 3 topics:
* Information Retrieval and Seeking
* Knowledge Organisation
* Knowledge Management
The alternating modules will however change every year.
The last semester is dedicated to a special subject module (thesis work, individual thematic focus).
IELTS
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

25 students can be enrolled into the International Masters Programme in Library and Information Science every year. Priority is given to applicants from the Nordic countries, EU/EEA citizens and applicants from Royal School partner institutions.
In order to be accepted into the International Master´s Degree programme, one of the following requirements must be satisfied:
* The student has attained a Bachelor´s Degree in Library and Information Science or a First Degree in Librarianship, or
* The student has a Bachelor´s Degree or the equivalent from another higher education institution. In the latter case, acceptance will depend on an individual subject evaluation
In cases where there are more applicants than there are places available on the course, acceptance will be on the following criteria:
* examination results within the qualifying examination,
* examination year of the qualifying examination (fall in weighting year by year).
Language Test Requirements
Most applicants need to submit TOEFL or IELTS language test scores.
Only the following applicants are exempted:
* Applicants who are citizens of an EU-country or of one of the following countries: Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Guyana, Iceland, Jamaica, Norway, New Zealand, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, or the United States of America.
* Applicants who earned their full bachelor's degree in English in the USA, the UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, or South Africa.
* Applicants who are currently completing or have previously completed at least six months of English taught studies in a Danish university applying to a minimum of 20 ECTS credit points.
All other applicants are required to submit a valid TOEFL or IELTS test.
The requirements are:
TOEFL: Paper-based test: 570 , Internet-based test: 88
TOEFL- score reports has to be sent directly to RSLIS by the test-center. The TOEFL code of RSLIS is 1911
IELTS: A score of at least 6.5 is required.
